TV Advertising costs in the UK

We take a look at TV advertising costs in the UK, from trying to buy a TV advert slot on ITV to Sky One and smaller digital TV channels. 

How much do TV adverts cost in the UK?

TV advert costs for the main TV channels, including ITV, Sky One and Channel 4 can cost anywhere between £150 to £30,000 per slot, depending on the time of day and which programmes the advert slot is placed in. Rates for smaller digital channels, such as the horror channel, can cost between £50-£150 for a day rate and can be as high as £150 – £300 for peak times or peak shows. These advert prices do not include the cost of producing the TV advert.

How much do TV adverts cost on ITV?

TV advert slots on ITV cost between £3,000 and £4,000 on average. At peak times, such as a series final or weeknights, can be much more expensive, sometimes between £10,000-£30,000. ITV is considered one of the most popular UK TV channels, with shows such as X factor, Good morning Britain and Loose Women.

How much do TV adverts cost on Channel 4?

If you fancy an advertising slot on Channel 4, this can cost around £1,000-£2,000 for normal programming. If a TV advert is shown within popular shows or series finals, such as the Great British Bake Off, then this can cost anywhere between £10,000-£20,000.

How much do TV adverts cost on Channel 5?

TV advertising on Channel 5 is one of the cheaper options, costing around £800-£1,600 during normal programming, but anywhere between £2,500-£4,500 during peak times or popular programming. This could include a particularly juicy episode of Neighbours, or a big brother final.

At peak times, TV advertising on Sky One can cost between £650-£1,150. A normal slot for a TV advert can cost around £150-£250. Popular programmes include the well-known comedy The Simpsons.
